Members of Rotary clubs in the area are delighted to be involved in giving support to the athletes and working alongside the Ironman UK team in the 2010 UK IRONMAN 70.3 Triathlon. Both the race organisers and Rotary will be working together to achieve a common goal of ensuring this global event runs smoothly and meets all the expectations of both the competitors and local community alike. A secondary but equally important purpose of the Charity Partnership is to take the opportunity of helping those less fortunate than ourselves by raising funds for charitable causes. The four nominated Rotary Charities are the following are-
- Life Education Imagine the feeling, you have crossed the finishing line after three incredibly tough disciplines - you did it to prove to yourself that you could. And you did it to raise vital funds for those less fortunate than yourself. Rotary has a number of guaranteed entries available for the 2010 event - so why not join The Rotary Charity Team and help make a difference. Athletes from outside the UK are welcomed into the Rotary charity team and Rotary encourage you to consider joining the scores of other like minded people who are intent on doing something to help others by fundraising for charities and good causes. The Rotary charity fund has Euro and US Dollar accounts as well as Sterling. To obtain a bonded place Rotary ask that you pledge to raise a minimum of £1000.00 GBP through sponsorship and you provide a "Commitment Bond" of £175 GBP which is fully refundable, from Rotary, when you have completed the race and/or Rotary have received your pledged target.
