You will need to free of any clothing and free of any creams, lotions, oils or sun creams. This will help facilitate our Race Crew with this task.

Pre-Race Preparations

You will not be allowed access to your blue transition bag or your red transition bag. There will be NO exceptions to this ruling. This is to ensure full security of all transition bags and to ensure that your bags remain exactly where you racked them yourself the day before!

You will need to put your wetsuit on and then pack your clothes into your white transition bag. This bag will need to be deposited by you at the White Bag Drop Zone in transition on race morning.  These will then be transported to the Finish Line and be waiting for you on completion of the Race.

Swim Start

At approx 05:30 all competitors will be walked out of transition and along the path down to the Swim Start. Competitors will be held on the concrete slipway at the water’s edge. Competitors will be asked to enter the water. Competitors enter the water at your own discretion. Please allow yourself sufficient time to enter the water, swim the short distance to the deep water start line.

The starting gun will go off at 06:00! The competitors will be organised with the Pros at the front. A single line of canoes will separate the pros by a few metres from the age groupers. Prior to the gun going the line of canoes will part. Competitors are asked to hold their places and not move forward.   You will be under the Chief Referees orders. The next thing you will hear will be the starting gun/horn.

Full water safety boats will be on the water - alongside 30 lifeguard canoeists. They will be on hand for your full safety and to ensure you do not head off course too much!

Volunteers are on hand to help you.

The IRONMAN UK Race Crew will be waiting to take your bike from you. Please proceed to the top of your numbered row and leave you bike with the volunteers. You can now remove/undo your helmet if you wish. The IRONMAN UK Race Crew will rack you bike for you.

They will remove your timing chip from your ankle and walk and talk you through the Finish Area. You will then collect your IRONMAN UK Finishers shirt and your IRONMAN UK Finishers medal.

Full medical assistance will be available at the Finish Line should you require it.

Your white transition bag will also be available for your collection. It is strongly recommended that you change into warm dry clothing as soon as possible. Please ensure you pack something suitable in your white transition bag, as it may be cold and dark when you finish.

Post Race Transportation

Once you have finished in the Finish Line area there will be shuttles buses provided by IRONMAN UK to reunite you with either your car at Reebox Stadium or your bike and  Blue/Red bags at T2. If you parked your car at the Reebox Stadium in the morning, the shuttle bus will return you to the Reebox Stadium  where you can collect your car and then drive yourself to T2, where there is a ‘Drop Off/Collection Zone’, to enable you to collect your bike and your Blue and Red Transition Bags. If you were dropped off at the Swim Start by your spectator that morning you can take the shuttle bus to the Reebox where you can meet your spectator to then drive to T2 for Kit collection. Alternatively you can meet your spectator at the Finish Line and where they can park and then transport you directly to T2.

For Guests of the Park Inn there will be a shuttle bus that will drop you back to the Park Inn, where you no doubt left your car as a Park Inn Guest and then can drive to T2 to collect your kit.

If you are attending the Race with no spectators and no car you will need to arrange your transportation from T2 in the same manner in which you arrived at T1 (i.e. Taxi or bike if you’re feeling fit!).

Please note that the T2 ‘Drop Off/Collection Zone’ is not a long stay car park. It is a short stay collection point, to enable athletes to collect their bikes and bags. IRONMAN UK ask that all athletes use the Zone appropriately to ensure the smooth flowing of themselves and fellow competitors post event. Marshals and Traffic Management Operatives will be in place to assist you at the end of your IRONMAN UK journey. NO BIKES will be allowed on the buses.

Post Race all your kit will be ready for collection at T2, located at Rivington and Blackrod High School. Full security will be in place to ensure your race number and athletes security wrist band match those numbers on your bike and bags. Please ensure you do not remove any numbering from yourself or your equipment prior to removing them from transition. This will ensure our IRONMAN UK Race Crew is able to ensure full security at all times. Please refer to the Race Week Schedule for full timings of transition and the collection of bikes and bags.
