Registration Process PDF Print E-mail

When you arrive at the IMUK 2010 race venue, Registration will be your first port of call. Registration will take place at the Leigh Sports Village, in the Indoor Sports Centre Sports Hall, along with the IRONMAN UK Expo. Click HERE for directions.

Upon entering the Registration area you will need to firstly check your IMUK race number against the list of Competitors on the board. You will then need to approach the corresponding Registration desk according to your race number. The Registration Volunteer will need to see the following:

- Photo ID - without this you WILL NOT be able to register. NO exceptions
- BTF license - (If applicable) If you stated on your entry form that you are a BTF member but you do not have your license you will need to pay £5.00 in cash for your race day insurance. If you are not a BTF member and you stated this on your entry form you will be issued with details of the IRONMAN UK Race Day Insurance that you have already paid for as part of your entry fee.
- Pro License - if you are a Pro.

The Registration Volunteer will then issue you with your Registration Pack that will consist of the following:

- 1 sheet of Tyvek adhesive race numbers – An example can be found here IMUK_Sticker_Sheet.pdf .  Please note that all the stickers have an explanation as to where they go on your equipment.

- 1 IRONMAN UK Tyvek Race Number (pins will not be provided)

- 3 IRONMAN UK Transition Bags - Red = Run kit / Blue = Bike kit / White = Dry kit

- 1 IRONMAN UK Athlete Security Wrist Band – this will be placed around your wrist by the volunteer. Please do not remove this until after the IRONMAN UK Awards Ceremony. This is for the security of you and your equipment.

- 1 IRONMAN UK Swim Cap

- 1 IRONMAN UK Timing chip and Strap. This is to be worn on your left ankle during Race Day.

You will then proceed to the next stage of Registration, where the team of Registration Volunteers will present you with you with your Athlete promotional goodies, as supplied by IRONMAN UK and our associated sponsors. 

 

Pasta Party/Awards Ceremony Tickets

If you have booked Pasta Party or Awards Ceremony tickets you will need to collect them at Registration

 

Shuttle Bus Bookings/Race Morning Parking Permits

If you have pre-booked a seat on the shuttle bus or a Parking Space at Pennington Flash on Race Morning you will need to collect you shuttle bus wrist band or parking permit at Registration.

Now you will need to pack your transition bags and follow the instructions on your adhesive Race Numbers and affix them to the corresponding piece of your equipment. 

Please note that once you have fixed your number to your bike, it is ‘race ready’ therefore covered by IRONMAN Race Rules. If you ride after this point, even for a test ride, helmets MUST be worn.   

Helmet Check

Upon entering bike and bag transition Met Helmet personnel will be on hand to ensure your helmet displays the correct safety standards, and kite marks. All the main brands of helmets come with such markings as part of the manufacturing process. If you are in any doubt please check with the manufacturer prior to arrival at the race venue site.   

Bike Racking

Pennington Flash (located across the road to Leigh Sports Village) - Transition 1

Your bike and Blue Transition Bag must be racked on Saturday – NO EXCEPTIONS – at T1 which is located at Pennington Flash. Please make sure that you rack you bike and Blue Bag in your allotted time corresponding to your Bib Number. It is the Athletes responsibility to ensure that your bike is in a road worthy condition. There are on site IRONMAN UK/SRAM Technicians for the emergency issues, but please ensure that your bike is ready to race BEFORE you arrive at the venue.  

IRONMAN UK in accordance with WTC rules and regulations, operate a clean transition system. No equipment can be placed on the floor around your bike. Do not mark your area in transition with such materials such as (but not limited to): talcum powder, balloons, flags, towels etc. It will be removed.  The only exception to this ruling is that your cycle shoes may be clipped onto your pedals. 

Your bike must be racked over the corresponding race number on the A Frame racking. Your bike must be racked with the saddle on the horizontal bar, with your front wheel over the corresponding laminated race number which is secured to the floor. Your bike will be fully accessible to you on race morning. Please refer to the Race Week Schedule for timings for transition opening on race morning.   

Bag Racking 

Blue Bag will be racked at Pennington Flash, Transition 1 (T1)

Red Bag will be racked at Rivington and Blackrod School, Transition 2 (T2)

Your bags (Red and Blue only) must be racked on Saturday – NO EXCEPTIONS. Please refer to Race Week Schedule for allotted  timings of bag racking. You will be directed by IRONMAN UK Volunteers to the corresponding race number on the bag racks. You will be required to rack your blue bike transition bag on the bike bag racks at Pennington Flash and your red run transition bag on the run bag racks at Rivington and Blackrod School.

All bag racks have metal numbers above each of the hooks, which will correspond with your race number. It is the athlete’s responsibility to check that your bags are racked on the correct numbers, so check, check and double check. Once you have racked both of your bags it is highly recommended that you walk and talk the flow of the entrance and exits of the bike and run bag tents and where your bags are in relation to it, so you will be fully prepared for race day. 

BLUE BAG: This will be racked at Pennington Flash (across the road from Leigh Sports Village) along with your bike. Put you kit you need for the bike discipline in this bag. We also suggest that you pack some warm clothes in case you are unable to complete the race as your White bag will be at the finish line. After you have used your BLUE BIKE BAG for your swim-to-bike transition, use this bag to pack your wetsuit and goggles in.

Once you have racked your blue bag you will need to get in your car and drive to Rivington and Blackrod School approx. 9 miles to rack your Red Bag.

RED BAG:This will be racked at Blackrod and Rivington High School. Put you kit you need for the run discipline in this bag.  We also suggest that you pack some warm clothes in case you are unable to complete the race as your White bag will be at the finish line. After you have used your RED RUN BAG for your bike-to-run transition, use this bag to pack your bike kit and helmet in.

WHITE BAG/DRY KIT BAG: Bring this bag with you on Race morning. Use this bag to pack (e.g.) clothing that you require after the race. You will be required to leave this white bag at the White Bag Drop Zone inside transition on race morning. These will be transported to the Finish Line area by the IRONMAN UK organisers for when you cross the Finish Line! 

Please make sure that the adhesive labels given to you when you registered, showing your race number, are stuck firmly to the Red, Blue and White bags.     


Please Note: IRONMAN UK Athlete Security Wrist Band - This will be placed on your wrist at registration. It will be your identification that you are an official Competitor and must be worn at all times. It is required for medical identification purposes and allows you access to the transition area, and post-race athlete recovery area. You will not be allowed to remove your bicycle and transition bags from the transition area following the race without your wristband affixed to your wrist. Please do not remove it from your wrist.   

Please Note: IRONMAN UK Timing Chip and Strap - The IRONMAN UK Triathlon is timed with Champion Chip. Your responsibilities as a Competitor include: Your race chip is on loan to you. By picking up this race number and chip you are guaranteeing that you will return the chip to race organizers, or you will be charged £50.00 for its replacement. If you do not start the race, you are still responsible for returning the chip to the race organizers. 

Chips should be returned to the Finish Line Captain ONLY. Or alternatively it can be returned by post (RECORDED DELIVERY ONLY) within 14 days of race day to:

You must wear your Champion Chip at all times when you are racing fastened to your left ankle with the provided Velcro strap. The IRONMAN UK Race Crew will remove it at the Finish Line. If you lose your timing chip during the event, it is your responsibility to get a replacement from the following locations: Swim exit, bike exit or run exit. If you lose your timing chip on the run course, you must notify a timing official immediately you cross the finishing line. NO CHIP = NO TIME.
