Bike Course

The IRONMAN 70.3 UK Exmoor bike course is a tough two lap course right in the heart of Exmoor National Park. The course leaves Wimbleball lake and follows an anti clockwise loop through hilly terrain in a picturesque part of Somerset.

Bike Course Feed Stations

2 feed stations approx. 12 -15 miles apart. They are located at Combeshead Cross and Haddon Hill.

Each Feed Station will have -

  • PowerBar Isoactive Isotonic Sports Drink - Lemon
  • Powerbar Energize Bars - Cookies & Cream or Berry Blast (cut in half)
  • Water
    Bananas (cut in half)

Take Extreme Care at mile 15 and 40. The course is very steep with a sharp left turn at the bottom

Passen Sie besonders auf bei Meile 15 und 40. Die Strecke ist sehr steil mit einer scharfen links Wendung unten.

Tenga especial cuidado en la milla 15 y también en la 40, ya que el circuito allí es muy empinado y con un giro brusco a la izquierda en la parte inferior.

Any littering on the bike course will result in disqualification. We are thankful to be able to hold this race in this area of beauty

The bike cut off time is 5 hours 30 minutes after the start of your race

 Drafting

Drafting is when you enter someone’s slip stream. The minimum distance between two athletes is 10 metres (back tyre to front) and 1.5 metres on the side. If you enter this zone you will receive a black card. Athletes cannot block another athlete from passing.  If you are over taking you must do so in 15 seconds. Failure to do this will result in a penalty if you do not drop back. The overtaken athlete is responsible for dropping back so they are not drafting.  Only once they have dropped back ten metres can they can attempt to overtake the cyclist in front of them.
